Venita moves to pastures new with new Elan Homes role

After four years at the cutting edge of new home sales, Venita Jones has taken on a new role as field sales manager for Elan Homes.

Prior to joining Elan Venita worked for a volume builder based in Bangor, where she sold around 200 homes. The sales success she achieved helped her earn the title of sales consultant of the year for the housebuilder’s North Wales and North West operation.

“I’d achieved so much with my previous employer, but wanted a fresh challenge so when the field sales manager job with Elan was advertised I saw it as a great opportunity to make that first step into management,” Venita explained.

“The idea of working for a smaller company appealed to me. It’s like being part of a family as everyone is very approachable.”Venita previously worked as a hairdresser, but a friend who worked in new homes sales encouraged her to change careers saying she would be perfect for the role. “You need to be a people person both as a hairdresser and in sales,” Venita laughed.

“For a successful career in new homes sales you need to be versatile and able to accommodate and interact with customers as each one is different. You need to know your product, what’s available, what’s included in the specification and have knowledge about the local area too.”

Venita works closely with Elan’s sales director Marie Morris to oversee sales executives across developments including Aigburth Grange, South Liverpool; ArgoedGardens and Kinnerton Meadows, both near Mold; Old Quay Meadow, between Parkgate and Neston; plus Westminster Place, near Chester.

“Elan’s homes are lovely – they have lots of character and the specification is very good. Viewing the show homes offers buyers an idea of what they expect from their own homes,” Venita said.

The 49-year-old, who lives in Prestatyn, is enjoying the variety that her new role offers.

“No two days are the same,” Venita commented.“Before I was based on one development, but now I’m covering several areas and seeing different challenges in managing the sales executives rather than dealing directly with customers. The good thing is that because I have been a sales executive I can use my experience to support them. It’s important that with every person who comes through the door they establish what their housing needs are; if they have a house to sell and perhaps need help in the form of part exchange or EasyMove or if they could use Help to Buy to reduce the initial cost of a new home.”

Niche developer Elan was established in 2008 and now employs circa 100 people across a variety of disciplines, roles and professions in offices in Cheshire and Bristol and on sites across the country.
